What is Floating?

Floatation Therapy

Flotation therapy is a highly effective means of stress relief and relaxation.  Flotation consists of lying in a pod containing 10 inches of super-saturated Epsom-Salt (Magnesium Sulfate) water. The high concentration of salt enables the individual to float effortlessly on the surface of the water.  The water is heated to 93.5 degrees, or skin temperature which makes it difficult to distinguish between your skin and the water.

Float Session

Once you enter your private float room you will lock the door, undress, and shower off using body wash and shampoo that is provided, insert ear plugs that are provided, step into the pod, and close the lid.  The lights in the pod will stay on and music will play for as long or as little as you would like. It’s completely controlled by you. Once your session ends, exit the pod, shower off, get dressed, come out, and relax in our lobby where you can enjoy a bottle of water.

Pre-Float

Don’t shave or wax before floating. Allow 2 weeks after coloring hair to float. Eat a small meal at least an hour before your appointment. Don’t drink caffeine before. Remove contacts. All you need to bring is a comb or brush (blow dryers are provided); swimsuits are optional. Arrive and check in. We’ll give you a quick tour and go over the basics and answer any questions you might have.

About Our Pods

We have 3 “Evolution Float Pods” manufactured by Superior float tanks in Norfolk, Virginia. The pods limit outside light and sounds when the lids are closed, providing the perfect escape from life’s stresses.  Pods are equipped with L.E.D lighting and sound system. Pods are a little over 7ft long and 5ft wide, so there is plenty of room for those who might be a little claustrophobic, and the lids can be left open as well. They use a state of the art filtration system and ultraviolet light to clean the water for 15 minutes between sessions as well.
